Cutler Brother’s 2nd ever “Pinheads and Patriots” Comedy Night 39 will premier for it’s one night showing on Tuesday, July 3rd at 8:00 pm. The sketch-comedy show takes place at the Cutler Bros. Theatre located at 301 Main in Deer Lodge. “Comedy Night” is the brainchild of the Cutler brothers and was originated in 2003. The last 4th of July themed Comedy Night for the production company took place in 2011 and was held at the Deer Lodge Elks. “Comedy Night 39” will feature holiday-themed sketches such as “Captain Firework” and “Uncle Sam, a stage play.” The show takes on the structure of Saturday Night Live with sketch-comedy, a special guest host, and a musical guest. Powell County drama coach and English teacher Solveig Munson will take the reigns on hosting “Comedy Night 39.” “Kelly (Cutler) has asked me to host for years and I’ve turned him down, but now that we’re moving this fall I didn’t really have an excuse to not do the show,” said Munson. Other actors in “Comedy Night 39” include local comedians Jim Tilley, Zane Cozby, Stuart Jewell, Scott Grazier, Kyle Gillette, Kyler Noel, Darryl Barton, Jenna Singleton, Jenn Logan, Theresa Cameron, and Candice O’Brien. Marquis Archuleta and Taylor Caprara, both actors from the University of Montana, will make appearances and this Comedy Night marks the first time since 2009 that all three Cutler brothers (Kelly, Patrick and Matt) will take roles. Patrick’s last Comedy Night was number 15. Tickets to the Cutler Brother’s sketch comedy show are $12 and may be purchased by calling the box office at (406) 846-4096 or by visiting cutlerbros.com. Cutler Brothers Productions of Deer Lodge open their June production “Steel Magnolias” on Friday, June 15th at 7:30 pm and it runs Thursdays to Sundays through June 29th. “Steel Magnolias” is the hair-shop classic written by American writer Robert Harling on his experience with his sister’s death. The play is a comedy-drama about the bond among a group of Southern women in Northwest Louisiana. It is also based on the 1989 American film directed by Herbert Ross. The cast that once featured Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, and Dolly Parton now features those familiar faces to the Cutler Brother’s stage in Deer Lodge. The salon owner and outspoken Truvy Jones will be played by Muriuh Alexander Buck while the sarcastic and somewhat impatient “Ouiser” will be played by Butte’s own Carin Sullivan. Muriuh’s most noticeable role with Cutler Bros. has been Mama in 2015’s “Chicago.” Carin Sullivan is a go-to Comedy Night actress and has been featured in shows such as “The Odd Couple” and “Noises Off.” Solveig Munson, who landed the coveted role of Maria in 2013’s “The Sound of Music,” will show her concerned motherly-side as she plays M’Lynn in the show. M’Lynn’s daughter Shelby, who suffers from type one diabetes and as so creates a key plot point, will be played by Cutler Bros.’ newcomer Taylor Caprara. Caprara was last seen as the lead role of Laurey in May’s “Oklahoma!” and she has credits at Fort Peck Summer Playhouse as well as Arizona Broadway Theatre. Rounding out the six-woman cast is Theresa Cameron (Annelle) and Sarah Ward (Clairee Belcher). Cameron has been with Cutler Bros. for years and is the head costumer. She has played roles in “Damn Yankees,” “Jesus Chris Superstar,” “Blind Date,” and many more. Sarah Ward is a newcomer to the Deer Lodge-based production company. She was born in the south and naturally fit the role of Ms. Belcher.
“Steel Magnolias” tickets are $18 general admission and reservations may be made by calling the Cutler Bros. Box Office at (406) 846-4096 or by visiting cutlerbros.com. Thursday – Saturday showings begin at 7:30 pm and the two Sunday matinees begin at 2:00 pm. All performances take place on the Cutler Bros. main stage at 301 Main in Deer Lodge. For questions, directions, or general inquiries call the number listed or visit cutlerbros.com. |
